Accreditation & Certification
US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) Tissue Establishment Registration
- The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is responsible for protecting the public health by assuring the safety, efficacy, and security of human and veterinary drugs, biological products, medical devices, our nation's food supply, cosmetics, and products that emit radiation. In January 2001 the FDA published a registration and listing final rule that requires human cells, tissues, and cellular and tissue based-product establishments to register with the agency and list their human cells, tissues, and cellular and tissue-based products for regulation. The Iowa Lions Eye Bank has been registered with the US FDA Tissue Establishment Registration since it went into effect in 2001 and was last accredited in June of 2017.
