Tissue Processing Services Provided

Descemet’s Stripping Automated Endothelial Keratoplasty (DSAEK): ILEB has been preparing corneal tissue for use in DSAEK since early 2006 and has now prepared more than 9000 corneas for DSAEK transplants. Using specialized software developed internally, ILEB staff are able to reliably process corneas to a surgeon’s desired thickness with a high degree of accuracy and precision. Corneal orientation markings are fully customizable and available upon request.

Descemet’s Membrane Endothelial Keratoplasty (DMEK): The ILEB has been providing DMEK prepared tissue since 2009. Our expert staff utilizes a highly reliable technique to prepare corneas for DMEK that allows the surgeon to perform the DMEK procedure using a “one touch method” requiring minimal manipulation of the donor cornea and better surgical outcomes. Corneal orientation S-stamp markings are available upon request.

Laser Assisted Keratoplasty (LAK): ): ILEB has been using a femtosecond laser to prepare corneas for use in surgery since June of 2007. ILEB is able to precisely prepare corneal tissue to a surgeon’s specifications for use in ALK surgery and can produce individualized edge profiles for use in PKP surgery.
